DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATON OF A WEB BASED DECISION SUPPORT COST ESTIMATOR TOOL FOR THE AL-SAWAF TRADING COMPANY: A CASE STUDY IN SAUDI ARABIA Mohammad Alsawwaf Faculty Advisor: Dr. Robert D. Spillman

Background  The Al-Sawaf Trading Establishment is a private sole proprietorship located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  The establishment is still in the category of a startup company.  The company specializes in selling and distributing medical supplies.

Need  Major factors in determining the sales price of bulk medical supplies to customers: ○ The cost of the product, ○ Weather or not the costs of shipping and insurance are included in the product cost, ○ And currency exchange rates.  Basically, Price Quotations

Potential Problems  The paper based system: ○ Outdated. ○ Difficult to store and keep track of.  The process: ○ Considered a slow process. ○ Inefficiant.

The solution  To come up with a computerized system that: ○ Speeds up the process, ○ Stores and keep track of quotations, ○ And makes it more efficient.
