Presentation transcript:

Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker 1 Reporting under the Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC Exercise : Status of MS reporting, lessons learned, first preliminary results

2 Status of reporting Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker

3 Status of work Creation of an European database of all reported data Development of country reports for each MS Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker

4 Country reports – maps (examples) Reporting obligation for WSZ polygons needs to be introduced should the DWD spatial data be created Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker

5 Country reports – graphs (examples) Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker

6 Overview small WSZ From 10 MS, some 12 mill. citizens are supplied by small WSZ About 60-70% were monitored; from these some 4- 6% were non compliant Variation of monitoring frequency, compliance etc. very high between MS Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker

7 Preliminary results – small WSZ High number of small WSZ, low volume of water supplied, mean resident population Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker

8 Lessons learned – content issues Overall reliable data Relatively high number of WSZ that do not meet the minimum monitoring frequencies (up to > 50%) Low number of non compliance of analyses Non compliance mostly caused by microbiological parameters (Ecoli and Coliform bacteria), and indicator parameters (e.g. Fe, Mn, Al, Odeur) Some 50 % of MS report additional, voluntary information (WSZ closed reason, location of WSZ, information on small WSZ) Event/ date: Freshwater Eionet Workshop, Author: Jeanette Völker
