iMetos Wireless sensor Networks

Definitions I : Radio WAP(W ireless A ccess P oint ) The WAP is the radio interface needed to command the iMetos3 radio network and to receive data from each RadioNode. For iMetos 3.3 it is connected via the extension board connector For the D3 is included on the main PCB Peer Btn LED s RF conn. WAP top view WAP back view Extension female connector Extension male connector iMetos 3.3 PCB

Definitions II : Radio N ode (or WSN: W ireless S ensor N ode )

1.Screw in the circuit spacers 2.Connect the WAP to the iMetos3 extension board connector 3.Gently tighten the nuts 4.Connect the battery and press the connect button as needed 5.Wait until communication with the FC server is finished, so the WAP gets the Real Time 6.Place a jumper on J1 and connect the USB to the iMetos3 7.Run PI uploader (or any terminal program) 8.Select Sensors -> Wireless test (2, W) so the WAP will be set up with the time and serial number of the station. How to upgrade an existing iMetos3 with a W ireless A ccess P oint (WAP)

Pair new RadioNode to the iMetos3 P1.Press and hold the peer button of WAP for about 3 seconds. All LED s of the WAP blink one time. The green LED of WAP lights indicating that iMetos3 is ready to pair with RadioNodes for the next 2 minutes P2.Connect the battery to the first RadioNode and press its own peer button The blue LED inside this button will start blinking indicating that the RadioNode is searching for the access point in the iMeos3. When this blue LED stops blinking before 2 minutes is because the pairing process has been completed. P3.Repeat from P1 with all the rest of the new RadioNodes

Wireless first time activation with iMetos3 Step 1: Connect the USB to the Wireless Sensor Device (WSD) board (Baud rate: 38400) Step 2: Press H to show the Help menu Step 3: Press 5 for Sensor Test, repeat until all sensors are ready

Wireless first time activation with iMetos3 Step 4: Run the iMetos3 Station in standalone mode (The system downloads the time from the server which needs to be sent to the WSD)

Wireless first time activation with iMetos3 Step 5: Connect USB to iMetos3 with jumper on J1. (Enables System Menu) Step 6: Select “Sensor->Wireless test” ( 2, W ) Wireless Access Point (WAP) board setup by iMetos3 Station. After setup returns to menu.

Wireless first time activation with iMetos3 Step 7: Hold peer button on WAP board for 3 seconds. The pairing activated for 2 minutes, Green LED stays light. (If the RED LED flashes, the setup failed.) Step 8: Connect battery to Wireless Sensor Device (WSD) board, Press peer button on WSD. WSD board paired with WAP board. If RED LED on WSD board stops blinking pairing process successful. Repeat for all WSD boards.

Wireless first time activation with iMetos3 Step 9: Confirm pairing process of iMetos3. Enable the System menu by connecting USB with jumper on J1. Select “Sensor->Wireless test” (2, W). Wait the indicated time, iMetos3 sets up monitoring for WAP. NOTE: Communication between WAP and IM33 is possible only in 30 sec window in 5 min period.

Wireless first time activation with iMetos3 Step 9 continued: The system switches into spy mode of WAP. The WAP spy reports the status and data. (If test does not report all WSD nodes, reset and run again.) To quit the wireless test press ESC

Deactivation of the pairing settings Access point pairing deactivation: Step 1: Disconnect the battery of the iMetos3 Step 2: Press and hold peer button of Wireless Access Point (WAP). While button is held, connect battery to iMetos3. Hold button until all LED s of WAP stop blinking.

Deactivation of the pairing settings Wireless Sensor pairing deactivation: Step 1: Disconnect battery of the Wireless Sensor Devices (WSD) Step 2: Press peer button of WSD. While button is held, connect battery to WSD. Hold peer button until all LED s of WSD stop blinking.

Understanding Signal Strength Indicator Received signal strength indication (RSSI): –more than -25dBm – overload –-26 to -35dBm – excessive –-36 to -45dBm – excellent –-46 to -75dBm – good –-76 to -95dBm – weak –-96 to -105dBm – poor –less than -106dBm – very poor
