About The second planet from the Sun in the Earth's solar system. Venus has been know for millions of years. The planet Venus has long been one of the most of all the inner planets. Like the Earth, Venus has an atmosphere. However, Venus' atmosphere is thicker than that of the Earth, making it difficult for science to understand. Scientists have been able to peek through the thick clouds and get a few looks of the surface. There are volcanoes and many mountains that appear. Some been known since billons of years.

Geography Venus has many, many volcanoes. We don't know for sure, but it is possible that Venous has more volcanoes than any of the other planets in our Solar System. But the volcanoes on Earth that can sometimes erupt in an wired manner, the volcanoes on Venus are believed to erupt in a less way. In fact, it is believed that they don't erupt at all. Instead, it is thought that the lava just slowly flows out onto the surface.

Venus If you somehow found a way to survive heat found on the surface of Venus, you would quickly notice something strange about the days. Aside from the fact that Venus rotates very slowly so that a day on Venus lasts more than 100 Earth days, Venus also rotates in the opposite direction as almost all the other planets.

Facts The brightest of all planets is Venus, is also known as the morning star and the evening star. This planet is about the same size as Earth but is covered with clouds of carbon dioxide and compounds. Radar mapping of the planet shows lots of craters and that 90% of the landforms are volcanic. Venus spins slowly backwards west to east in 243 days and takes about 225 days to orbit the sun. This makes the daytime about 115 days which can raise surface temperatures up to 464° C.

Fact In about a month’s time our moon appears to change shape called phases. In 1610 Galileo observed phases and size changes of Venus similar to our natural satellite. His discovery of this and Jupiter’s moons led to a dramatic paradigm shift (way of thinking) from an Earth-centered system to a Sun- centered view. The world was no longer fixed in place and the gods no longer ruled.
