BioQuest A PEER sustainability presentation Emily and Jonelle

What do we know? Trees cover 46% of Wisconsin’s land Mature forests are less than 125 years old due to deforestation practices in the area 1995 ban implemented on certain items into land fills (newspapers, magazines, office paper) Land division implementation (private land, private industry) Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine

So….we’d like to know Q: How would recycling affect the sustainability of the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)? Raw material extraction Transport Material processing Primary production Secondary production Disposal/fate Recycling

For example, for Time magazine… Estimates show that for the 37,477 tons of Time magazine produced annually, 11, 746 tons of that is recycled.

So…what’s next? Alternatives to deforestation: Use of hemp – Illegal Kenaf - difficulty/cost for conversion of current mills for production

Questions? Comments? Thank you for your attention
