Paws and Claws Pet Clubs originated through Homeless Pet Clubs, an organization started by Dr. Michael Good, an Atlanta, Georgia veterinarian, to save homeless pets scheduled for euthanasia. Our purpose and goal is to get the word out about all the great animals awaiting adoption at the Etowah Valley Humane Society.

In 2011 the Homeless Pet Clubs partnered with the Etowah Valley Humane Society here in Bartow County to begin establishing clubs in our schools. Both the superintendents of Bartow County and Cartersville City gave their seals of approval for the program. In 2013 EVHS established our own independent pet club entity, the Paws and Claws EVHS Pet Clubs.

Etowah Valley Humane Society 1. does NOT euthanize 2. does NOT intake animals 3. pulls animals from Bartow Animal Control exclusively 4. Works with BAC but is a separate entity 5. spays/neuters and vets all animals 6. is a nonprofit: works solely on adoption fees, donations, and fundraisers 7. works with other rescue groups 8. dog adoption $175; cat adoption $125 Bartow Animal Control 1. euthanizes unclaimed animals; will hold a MINIMUM of 7 days unless it is more humane to euthanize 2. DOES NOT adopt out animals 3. works with EVHS on rescues 4. is run by the county 5. receives intake from Bartow County and City of Cartersville 6. does not spay/neuter Both 1.care about the animals 2. interact with each other 3. take numerous calls regarding animal issues 4. follow county, state, and federal laws What can you tell me about EVHS?
