On the day of the presentation, the presenter knows he has to be more interesting than the private daydreams of the audience or it will not be effective. On the day of the presentation, the members of the audience know that their daydreams have to be more interesting than the presentation or else they cannot sleep. On the day of the presentation, whether it is your presentation or your daydream, you had better make it interesting. EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 1. There is no correct way.  Effective presentation requires the creation of two way communication between you and the audience.  No single set of rules will guarantee success in all situations.  The success of a presentation is highly dependant upon the presenter, the audience and the circumstances.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 2. Control nervousness (stage fright).  It is neither possible nor desirable to eliminate nervousness entirely.  The flow of additional adrenalin creates a feeling of excitement that is advantageous to most presentations.  It is however necessary to control nervousness so that it is not counterproductive.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS Tricks to control nervousness.  Adequate preparation.  Remember that you appear more confident than you feel.  Remember that your audience wants you to succeed.  Be message conscious rather than self conscious.  Loosen tense muscles

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 3. Know your purpose and topic.  Have a specific attainable purpose eg. informing, persuading or entertaining.  Have adequate content.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 4. Analyze your audience.  Knowledge level.  Attitudes about the topic.  Attitudes towards you.  Cultural composition.  Occupational status.  Educational background.  Age.  Size.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 5. Organize your presentation well.  Preview.  Introduction.  Body.  Conclusion. Tell them what you are going to tell them. Tell them. Tell them what you have told them.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 6. Use supportive evidence.  Statistics.  Testimonies.  Examples.  Explanations.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 7. Deliver effectively.  Control non verbal communication.  Reflect confidence and authority.  Establish eye contact.  Sound extemporaneous, not memorized.  Smile.

CLUES TO EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS 8. Use visual aids.(Helps audience to:)  Concentrate on key points.  Understand complex material.  Remember what has been presented.
