Presentation transcript:

Shoe Designer Chris R.

Job Description A footwear design career is a challenging and rewarding choice for fashion designers with a particular interest in shoes, and the ability to specialize by type of consumer, style or shoe function makes it a particularly dynamic field of fashion design

Duties Of Position need an extensive knowledge of shoe construction materials, the ability to identify attractive patterns through fashion trend analysis and an understanding of the fundamentals of footwear construction. Travel is also a regular activity, since designers attend numerous trade shows in order to analyze trends and find new ideas. Computer skills and artistic abilities may also help you, since you may draft illustrations and technical drawings for new concepts and then present your designs to production teams.

Hours They Work Most shoe designers work full time; however, some work part time. Occasionally, fashion designers work long hours to meet production deadlines or prepare for fashion shows. Designers who freelance generally work under a contract and tend to work longer hours and adjust their workday to their clients' schedules and deadlines.

Yearly Rate Of Pay Fashion designers who worked for footwear manufacturers made an average salary of $77,980 in that same year.

Educational Background Needed Students interested in shoe design careers can pursue two-year associate's or advanced study degrees in footwear design at many fashion design institutes internationally, according to eHow.com. These programs typically include classes in shoe engineering, industrial design, and fashion marketing. Other students pursue bachelor's degrees in fine art or industrial design before becoming shoe designers.

Paragraph I picked this career because I like shoes. I want this job because I want to go to college and have a good life. I want to get paid well.
