Integrity - Service - Excellence Electronic Form 48 Instructions Planned Academic Program –What You Need –Rules –How to fill out the Electronic Form 48 Fall 2013

Integrity - Service - Excellence What You Need 1.Electronic AF Form 48 (Det Website) Current Cadets  Resources  Holm Center Forms/IMTs 2.TAMU Undergraduate Course Catalog 2.The list of Aerospace Science classes (slide 8) 3.A list of any credit you have previously obtained to include AP, CLEP, Community College, or other institution transfer credits

Integrity - Service - Excellence Rules 1.Include ALL 4 years of AERS classes 2.Include ALL the classes you need to obtain your degree 3.Include a summer block for EVERY summer EVEN IF THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES TAKEN 4.Project a realistic plan for completion of your degree (i.e. any more than 15 hours per semester is most likely NOT realistic) - IF IN DOUBT, SEE YOUR INSTRUCTOR!!!

Integrity - Service - Excellence How to fill out an E-Form 48 1.On your computer, fill out Blocks 1, 3 and 5 on the FIRST page of the form

Integrity - Service - Excellence E-Form 48 – Labeling Terms 2.Fill in your name at the top of each sheet 3.Fill in TERM blocks sequentially: Fall, Spring THEN Summer (ALL SUMMERS) & YEAR above each semester block in sequential order

Integrity - Service - Excellence

E-Form 48 – AERS Classes 4.Fill in the Course Number (AERS###), Course Title and Credit hours (1 or 3) for all Aerospace Science classes in the appropriate term/year even if you do not desire a commission –Enter the words “FIELD TRAINING” in the summer between your sophomore and junior year –IF you will take more than 4 years to graduate, you WILL NOT take any more classroom classes, but WILL still participate in Lead Lab (AERS 105/106 for Fall/Spring terms) during your 5 th year

Integrity - Service - Excellence Freshman Year First SemesterCrSecond SemesterCr AERS 101 Foundations of the USAF 1 AERS 102 Foundations of the USAF 1 AERS 105 Leadership Lab 1 AERS 106 Leadership Lab 1 Sophomore Year First SemesterCrSecond SemesterCr AERS 201 Evolution of Air and Space Power 1 AERS 202 Evolution of Air and Space Power 1 AERS 105 Leadership Lab 1 AERS 106 Leadership Lab 1 **Summer – Sophomore Year: AFROTC Field Training** Junior Year First SemesterCrSecond SemesterCr AERS 303 Air Force Leadership Studies 3 AERS 304 Air Force Leadership Studies 3 AERS 105 Leadership Lab 1 AERS 106 Leadership Lab 1 Senior Year First SemesterCrSecond SemesterCr AERS 403 National Security Affairs 3 AERS 404 National Security Affairs 3 AERS 105 Leadership Lab 1 AERS 106 Leadership Lab 1 Aerospace Science Classes

Integrity - Service - Excellence

10 Continue with AERS Classes until your projected graduation date. Remember that if you go beyond 4 years, you will still take Leadership Lab (AERS105-Fall, AERS106-Spring)

Integrity - Service - Excellence E-Form 48 – ID’ing Credit 5.From your TAMU Undergraduate Course Catalog, find the section that tells you what classes you need to take to complete your degree 6.Make a list of previously obtained credit, determine which courses you will NOT have to take and notate that beside the course 7.AERS Upper-Level course credit: for most majors, AERS 303, 304, 403 & 404 count for HIST 105 OR HIST 106 PLUS POLS 206 OR POLS 207 (1 of each, 6 credits total) - Page 26 in Catalog Include these credits in your plan. Some departments count these classes towards other electives as well. If you brought in both History or both POLS classes, your AERS classes could count for additional electives/Core classes – ASK YOUR ADVISOR

Integrity - Service - Excellence HS AP English MATH CLEP test

Integrity - Service - Excellence E-Form 48 –Planning Classes 8.Map out in your course catalog degree plan what classes you would like to take in which semester IMPORTANT things to consider: Some classes have prerequisites, make sure you DO NOT schedule a class before its prerequisites If you struggle with a subject, DO NOT load your semester with classes in that subject You don’t HAVE to follow the suggested plan, put your career together in a way that is best for you DO NOT be unrealistic…more than 15 hours in any semester could be setting yourself up for failure You DO NOT have to choose exact classes for upper level electives; entering “Technical Elective” and credit is acceptable

Integrity - Service - Excellence HS AP English MATH CLEP test Fall ‘08 Spring ‘09

Integrity - Service - Excellence E-Form 48 – Completing Course Info 9.Once every class has an assigned semester, fill the Course Number, Title and Credit Hours for each class –Add additional semesters if you can’t finish degree in four years –Include summer courses you plan to take, even if they will be completed at a different university (put course # you’re getting credit for) –If your plan is more than 4 years, include Lead Lab (AERS 105/106) on your 5 th year schedule (1 credit hour) 10.Total the hours for each semester in the “Total Credit Hours Attempted” box at the bottom of each semester block – Form does this automatically but double check

Integrity - Service - Excellence E-Form 48 - Remarks 11.Complete “REMARKS” section with the following info: –List any additional classes that DO NOT fit in the semester block –List the classes for which you have previously obtained credit TRANSFER CREDIT AP TEST CREDIT DUAL CREDIT

Integrity - Service - Excellence

E-Form 48 - Approval 12.Take completed Form 48 to your department academic advisor for review, approval and signatures in the following places: –Block 4 on the first page –Up to AND INCLUDING CURRENT Semester’s Advisor Signature Block ONLY – NO FURTHER 13.Sign your name in your box under Block 5 on the first page –DO NOT Sign in each semester’s block, this will be accomplished with your instructor 14.This assignment is complete when Steps 1-13 are done and you turn the form in to your instructor

19

Integrity - Service - Excellence -DO NOT Sign block 6 -Include summer semesters AND Field Training -Upper Level AERS credit: HIST 105 or 106 PLUS POLS 206 or th Year: include Leadership Laboratory -Academic Advisors sign NO FURTHER than current semester -Take pride in your work – format correctly (font size, alignment, spelling, grid completeness, etc.) -If you are in a SAF-approved 5 year major, project a realistic degree plan, use years -Reminder: AF Scholarship does not pay for Summer classes E-Form 48 – Key Points
