Using OARE Search Engines

Environmental Index (EBSCO) Advanced Search

From the journals page in OARE choose the Environmental Index (EBSCO).

Click on the Advanced Search Tab to get to the Advanced search page

Keyword search fields Refine Search by using Boolean Logic Various search fields

Various search fields to specify where you want to search

Sign in to your personal account, create a folder, select preferences, see new features, get help or leave the site.

Refine Search, get Search History or alerts and Results

Get more keywords from the Thesaurus

List of terms in the Thesaurus which you can add to your search

Get cited references

Find specific cited references

Browse Indexes

Remember you need to specify the field you want to search in

Example

Using Limiters

You can limit your search to Linked Full Texts, Available References, Peer Reviewed Journals, Dates, Publication…

You can limit your search to Publication Type –(Academic Journal, Conference Paper, Periodical), Document Type- (Abstract, Article, Bibliography) and Number of Pages.

Using Expanders

Choose between Limiters and Expanders and use the Reset button to restart the search refinement

If you are not sure you can “Apply additional terms to your query” to broaden your search If you are searching for two or more keywords remember to choose “Automatically ‘AND’ search terms” for the engine to combine the search terms

You can Refine your Search, view Search History or Alerts and Results

See your Search History…

…print them, retrieve them, view results, revise search, save your history or clear the search history
