Roles of the President “The President wears many hats.” The Presidents is and does many things all at once. All of these roles are inseparable and interrelated.

Presidential Disability Until the 25th Amendment there was no plan in case the President got sick. Section 3 and 4 of the 25th established a plan where the VP can act as the President

Presidential Disability 1) If the President informs congress in writing “He is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

Presidential Disability 2) If the VP and a majority of the Cabinet inform Congress the President is incapacitated, the President can be removed and the VP placed in charge.

The Election The electoral college is the least understood part of our election process.

The Election cont. When you cast your vote for the president you are actually voting for an elector.

The Election cont. Each state has the same numbers of electors as they have congress people.

The Election cont. Candidates with the most popular vote gets all of the electoral votes. “Winner take all”

Electoral College 1) Electors are selected on the Tuesday of the first full week of November. They are selected by the popular vote. * electors names don’t appear on the ballot.

Electoral College 2) Electors cast their vote on Monday in the second full week of December. They meet in each states capitals.
