MR. RUTTAN’S CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

ENTERING THE ROOM Okay, you are reading the PowerPoint just like you are supposed to…good job!! Now please get out of your seat and go line up outside my door along the lockers to the right as you exit. When you enter the room again, please, NO TALKING, and wait for further directions

SITTING AT THE DESK: Practice good “SLANT” Sit up Lean forward Act interested Nod for understanding Track the speaker (if necessary)

DID YOU PAY ATTENTION? Now…go back outside the door and re- enter just as you did the last time… This time, when you sit in your seats, practice good “SLANT” Fold your hands in front of you as you wait for instructions from Mr. Ruttan

HAND SIGNALS 1 Finger (not the middle one) –Sharpen pencil, throwing something away, getting Kleenex/tissue 2 Fingers –Restroom 3 Fingers –Questions 5 Fingers –Answer or response to something I’ve asked or said

QUIET SIGNAL When the teacher raises his hand, you immediately stop talking, are seated (in SLANT position), raise your hand, and wait for everybody to quiet down After everybody is ready, I will lower my hand (and so will you) The class will remain quiet until I give instructions to continue group work

RESTROOM POLICIES You may use the restroom or water fountain once every two weeks If you use it more often than that, you will receive a tardy Only use the restroom if you have an emergency If you have a medical emergency (such as vomiting), run to the restroom without asking and then get a pass to the nurse from me

EXITING THE CLASSROOM YOU ARE DISMISSED BY MR. RUTTAN, NOT THE BELL NO GETTING READY TO LEAVE DURING CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES GET YOUR THINGS TOGETHER WHEN ONE MINUTE REMAINS IN CLASS LADIES ARE DISMISSED FIRST, FOLLOWED BY THE GENTLEMEN

PRACTICE PACK UP YOUR THINGS, AND WAIT FOR MY DISMISSAL GO INTO THE HALLWAY AND LINE UP ALONG THE LOCKERS I WILL PROMPT YOU TO COME BACK INTO THE ROOM PREPARE FOR CLASS AS IF IT WERE THE BEGINNING (PRACTICE GOOD SLANT)
