W HAT CAUSES T ORNADOS TO FORM AND HOW THEY ARE PREDICTED It forms in a thunderstorm When hot air and cold air meet Meteorologists only have a few minutes to warn people that a tornado is coming

H OW TORNADOS ARE MEASURED AND WHAT SCALE YOU USE TO MEASURE A TORNADO ? They are measured by how much damage they cause They are also measured by how fast the wind is The scale used to measure a tornado is the Fujita Scale

H OW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO PREPARE AND PRECAUTIONS / SAFETY STEPS You will only have a few minutes to prepare for a tornado Going to a room with no windows is a good way to stay safe during a tornado Going to a basement or a cellar is also a good place to go Cover your head with something like a blanket or a pillow or your hands Make sure to get low and curl up in a ball
