Presentation Outline Project context. e-Curator web interface. e-Curator implementation: current architecture and future development.

e-Curator: Project Aims 3D colour scanning: to develop a traceable methodology for recording surface detail and colour quality of a range of object types and materials. e-Science technologies: the deployment of e- Science for the sharing of the collected 3D data sets and related metadata between disparate locations and institutions.

e-Curator: 3D Colour Scanning Arius3D Foundation Model 150 colour scanner. 3D models: –provide information about overall shape and colours and surface details. –provide a digital record of an object’s condition. –help in the computerized study of artists’ structure and techniques.

e-Curator: Web Interface

e-Curator: Web Interface Lighting displayColour display

e-Curator: Web Interface

Different sets of raw and processed 3D data:  ‘aligned’: without colour or point processing  ‘processed’: with cleaned colours and geometry  ‘presentation’: with optimised colours and data voids  single scan files: constituent data

e-Curator: Web Interface Object metadata

e-Curator: Web Interface Scanning metadata: metadata concerning scan process and post processing

e-Curator Implementation: Current Architecture Storage Resource Broker (SRB): –A software tool developed by San Diego Supercomputer Centre (SDSC) –Primary features: Supports access to data distributed across multiple storage repositories. Allows users to add metadata to describe the content of the files. Allows data to be replicated from remote into local databases.
