ECFS E-Consultations E-Agriculture Knowledge exchange and storage product

The Product

Innovation Using ICT technology, ECFS was able to build extensive network of the researchers and practitioners with expertise in food security issues in Eurasian region at the open-source C4D platform Success Factors Most recent e-discussion received more than 3500 views (with 167 daily views average) from the United States, Europe, Central and South Asia Russia ECFS community was ranked 2nd among all World Bank initiated/C4D-registered communities of practice (CoPs) and attracted over 10,000 views (10,517) between November 2014 – February 2015 Main Results E-Consultations generated a discussion on the key socio-economic drivers and impacts of such issues as land degradation in Russia, CA, and the Caucasus; Soil Salinization in Eurasia, and Impact of G20 initiatives on the global food security Helped to identify tools available to guide sustainable land use decision- making in particular Enabled public to examine the role of policies and institutions in promoting sustainable land and food systems and to evaluate the role of the regional and global stake-holders

Expectations and Lessons learned ECFS aims to eventually building a self-sustained community of practitioners by means of these online consultations, where ECFS web-site will serve as a platform for this community direct collaboration The product could be further improved by allowing farmer participation and enabling practical knowledge sharing by the means of Additional consultation features (special discussion boards) Adjusted product marketing strategies Introducing the task which would help shape policy recommendations by the e-consultations community Expansion of the already-formed network
