Making Multicultural Australia - Textile Journeys Stories in Fabric by Refugee Women from North East Africa.

“This exhibition is the story of the journey as a refugee, and the culture and families left behind in the homelands of Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti...Textile Journeys is a testimony to the strength, pride, vitality and humour that has survived - despite the despair, loss and dislocation experienced by these women and their families.” So reads the catalgoue for this Melbourne exhibition, created by over 40 women and their young children, with the help of artist Sue Anderson and interpreter and project worker Marian Mohamed.
