YOUNG COMMISSIONERS Helping to choose Services and Activities that are right for YOU

What are Young Commissioners?  They are a group of young people who are trained to make decisions on what activities and services are available for young people in Hampshire  They make professional decisions on which applications receive funding and help to monitor the organisations who deliver them to make sure they are doing the best job possible

 They help carry out needs assessments of the services young people need  They visit commissioned services to help assess the quality of service being provided and advise on ways to improve service delivery  They attend regular meetings to discuss how they will best support the views of young people

Why get involved?  Be a voice for young people in Hampshire and help make a difference  Be involved in a project you have helped designed to engage other young people and seek their views  This could include designing and carrying out surveys, visiting other youth projects and organising events.

 Learn more about your community and develop an understanding of political processes, citizenship and representation  Influence future policy and decisions on issues affecting young people  Attend training courses, conferences and events (perhaps even design and deliver them)

 Obtain certificates of achievement, and accreditations recognised by colleges, Universities and Employers  Gain valuable skills, experiences and a unique opportunity to add to your CV and reference portfolio  Use the skills gained to help progress to paid work opportunities
