2013 R10 Professional Activities o Vision/Mission: o Professional Activities focuses on maintaining and enhancing lifelong employability and career maintenance, while providing advice to and collaborating with public bodies, corporations, NGOs and non-profits to benefit the members, their fields of practice, and the general public, and continuing to promote ethical conduct. o In 2013, along with the routine Professional Activities, we propose new pilot projects to support IEEE R10 Professional Activities in local region. (Project applications are welcomed.) o Help us to improve.

2013 R10 Professional Activities and History Committee o Coordinator: o Hui Zhang o Committee Members: o Takatoshi Minami o Deepak Mathur o Supavadee Aramvith o We applied new funding project for Professional Activities. The committee will work on the budget decision, and activity evaluationg.

Proposed 2013 Projects and Activities (1) 1. Professional Awareness to sections: o Encourage R10 members to use free E-book,Webinar, IEEE TV, and some other resources. o Questionnaire survey. o A guide include information about the IEEE R10 Professional Activities and related available resources. 2. Professional Activities Pilot Project Support Fund : o Help initiate and motivate new projects related to professional activities in R10. o Providing support fund for 4-5 pilot projects. The project can be in form of lectures, colloquium, career guidance, etc. o Feedbacks.

Proposed 2013 Projects and Activities (2) 3. New webpage: o One homepage for IEEE R10 Professional Activities within the IEEE R10 website. o Useful IEEE recourses related to Professional Activities. 4. Joint Project with SPAC & Promote Professional Awareness during R10 Events: o Cooperate with the Student Professional Activity Committee (SPAC) to support activities for both students and young researchers. Considering larger scale activities. o Attend events of R10 to promote professional awareness.

History Committee o Vision/Mission: to preserve, research and promote the history of information and electrical technologies. o History Committee advises the IEEE Board of Directors on matters of the legacy and heritage of IEEE and its members and their related professions and technologies, and carrying out some activities in those areas. o Resources are available online at

IEEE Milestones in EE & Computing o Honors significant technical achievements in associated with IEEE o Recognize the technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity found in unique products, services, seminal papers and patents o As least 25 years old, and must have had at least regional importance

STARS Global History Network (GHN) o STARS is an acronym for Significant Technological Achievement Recognition Selections o Online compendium of invited, peer-reviewed articles on the history of major developments in electrical and computer science and technology o Provide authoritative information, valuable in itself, but also useful as starting points for further investigations o GHN is intended to be the world’s premier site for the documentation, analysis and explanation of the history of electrical, electronic, and computer technologies, the scientists, engineers and business people who made these technologies happen, and on the history of the organizations to which these men and women belonged. o
