History 1939 : One of the earliest and proven attempt was made by Francoise Hussenot : Hussenot founded the « Société Francaise des Instruments de Mesure » so as to market his invention : The Australian engineer Dr. David Warren conceived a device that would record the instruments reading and the cockpit voice : Black boxes were redesigned and moved to the rear of airplanes.
