Ways to erase my carbon foot print  During the day after my cell phone has charged all night, I unplug the charger from my wall.  Doing this allows energy to be conserved and not wasted when the charger is not being used.  Only 5% of the power drawn by cell phone chargers are actually used to charge phones. The other 95% is wasted when you leave it plugged into the wall, but not into your phone.

Showering  When I take my shower I always try to limit my time.  I always used to take twenty minute showers but now that I know that a lot of water is wasted I take 10 minute showers.  saving money saving money

Showering cont.  Also when I shower I always shut the lights off. The only light that is on when I shower is the shower light. It saves energy because even though the room I am in is being used, the lights aren’t on.

Brushing my teeth  When ever I brush my teeth in the morning and at night I always shut off the water. This “saves water for the fish” and allows me to feel good that I’m conserving water.

Energy safe lights  My family just recently converted all of the lights in our house to energy safe lights.  It took some getting used to because they aren't as bright as the old bulbs we used to have. They also are dim when you first turn them on, but get a lot brighter after they have been on for a few minutes.

Water bottles  My family no longer buys the big 24 packs of water for everyone to drink.  Instead they invested in the Sigg water bottles for us to drink out of.  The bottles themselves are recyclable and they limit my plastic waste use.

Plastic bags  When my family goes grocery shopping they no longer use the stores plastic bags  They use the reusable bags that the store provides.  This is a plus because they get a discount on their groceries and they also are limiting their plastic waste
