Pending mechanics issues for electronics/services (updated 18/08/05 by Ana) Fixation/shielding for 2 LV PS (no fingers):  - Clermont worked out a proposal of shielding, fixation and the dismounting scheme. Details on: - Discussed with Larg (L.Hervas,F.Lanni) and Nikolai. A box of ~60kg dismountable in pieces of max 10kg. Detailed Drawing beg sept (Francois and P.Verdier) after hollidays.  8 U shape fingers extensions for barrel not needed anymore: - CF will modifiy the insertion/extraction SD tools in September - LAR team can insert LV power supplies.

TileCal WP2: Cables manufacture (updated – Irakli 09/11/05)  Persons involved: Bob/Stan/Irene/Irakli (Tiles) + 2 technicians from Tiles NO NEWS Barrel  USA15 to detector, construction status  Connectors USA15 side to fit for ~80 cables (should be done for half already routed)  Local cables on detector  Done Procurement Trigger cables:  1 km coming Today?. Rest 4km under production.  1,7km (3 drums) cables from NEXANS delivered bld.171. All of them done (see table on the next page). Some cables need test by RIO test bench (Paulo, Marilia)  900m + 6x70m from Nexans good cables in CERN.  Enough for sectors 3,5,7,9,13 WP2 (03/ 8) Services: 1) route cables USA15->HS:missing sect 3,5,9. cable trays ready end July=> we can continue in Aug. 2) install second connector +QC on HS 3) Pre-install local cables on truck(SB connector and pile on saddle) 4) Connect all cables+fibres HS->fingers (2 days/16 fingers) 5) Trigger cables installation 1) 2 months 2) ~1.5 month 3) 3-4 weeks 4) 1 month 5) 2 months? 1)May- Jun & Aug- Sep 2)24June-mid July & Sept. 3) In Aug-Sep 4) September? 5) Oct-Nov TC Irakli Irene Tile techs

TileCal WP2: Barrel cables installation (updated -Irakli, 27/10/05)  USA15 to detector cables to do till September:  USA15 side connectors for CANbus/LV and LV cables.  Detector connectors for routed cables to HS (bottom sectors).  LV AUX Starbox side ( done)  LV AUX USA15 side – done.  QC table on the web: (cabling-STATUS), Evgeny Kudinov implemented in cable DataBase.  Detector connectors for top sectors on 7 November (Clermont for HV). In progress.  Laser fibers routing and cutting, last 3 weeks of September (Coimbra), decoupled from z=0 move. Mounting connectors from detector side – Labeled, connectors are mounted. 408 fibers are glued by Bicron. Beam expander modified and installed in rack. Patch panel mounted in rack. Box for spooling fibers under rack is prepared and situated under rack.  Remaining HV cables cutting and connectors mounting. Waiting cable trays installation.  Routing mini-cables and splicing OF. A Fibernet tech will teach a TC tech in September. Will continue with a machine bought/rented for ATLAS (3 weeks). Parts communicated to Marzio for ordering.  Local cables to do October-November :  Starbox connectors for LV cables and coil on saddles. All of cables are installed into 4 star-boxes and tested. 20 cables routed on the saddle regions. Rest will be routed at Z=0 point.  Will work out for Cs?  Have to organize inter-rack cabling in September. In Progress  Cables QA to carry out in September and fill.xls files!

HS TileCal WP2: Barrel sniffer pipes for drying (updated -Irakli, 03/11/05) To use part of sniffer for drying of drawers for avoid HV trips was initiated by Marzio Nessi NO NEWS

Francois Vazeille offers after stability test  Our experience in pit: 220 l/hour/Finger  400 l/Module  4 times the free volume/hour.  Suggestion: inject 400 l/Module at the beginning, then to reduce to 200l/Module  Having 64 Modules leads to: - At the beginning: a total flow of l/hour - Later: a total flow of l/hour.  We need humidity level not above 45%. The air must be clean: without dust and oil. The use of suitable filters is classical. TileCal WP2: Barrel sniffer pipes for drying (updated -Irakli, 03/11/05)

First steps:  Test the capability of sniffer pipes for pressured air (junction quality, pipe diameter,...).  At the Z=0 point define optimal air flow.  Because inside rack for smoke detection system (US side, HS level 7) doesn’t exist general air cooling investigate how to inject air into pipe. Independent pump Bring air from general air cooling system  Some more questions TileCal WP2: Barrel sniffer pipes for drying (updated -Irakli, 03/11/05)

TileCal WP2: Cooling (updated by Irene, Irakli & Nikos 3/11/05)  Persons involved: Irene/Nikos Giokaris + Tile techs +TC  Scenario for cooling at z=0, Sept-Nov commissioning  The final system will be ready after 2 months after z=0.  MEPLA manifolds (4x8-fold) for the 16 drawers per 6 days.  Jan has ordered materials. TileCal techs will build manifolds.  Still to conclude on the capacity of the 2 units to cool down 16 SD on 2 sides simultaneously! Will try it soon.  Proposed location for the low cooling unit is where it is now (level 3). For the upper one is level 5 – exact location is still under investigation.  The contact person from TS/CV/DC is Carsten Houd and a discussion will be organized.
