The name of our colony is South Carolina. South Carolina was founded in The colony’s founder was King Charles the 1 st.

 The colony’s first people were the Cherokee, and Catawba. The Cherokee lived in the Appalachian Mountains, and the Catawba lived in the Fothills. South Carolina gathered nuts and berries, and grew corn, beans and squash. Also hunted deer and wild turkeys.

During the 1500s Spanish and French explorers each tried to settle in South Carolina. The men who settled Charles town received 150 acres of land.
