Beginners Internet Workshops Promoting digital inclusion by learning to use electronic tablets

v Background Programme sponsor, scope and timescales

v supports Go ON UK Argos supports Go ON UK, the national charity which aims to teach and enhance basic on-line skills. This project is one of five pilots which will explore take-up of the offer among the most digitally excluded. Roll-out is planned for 120 Argos stores. The pilot Talk Talk are offering all participants free broadband internet connection for 1 year

v supports Go ON UK Locations At present this pilot covers Sheffield, Chesterfield, Lincoln, Skegness and Grimsby…

v supports Go ON UK Each local Argos employs Digital Champions will run 8 two-hour workshops with up to 10 learners at each Scope

v supports Go ON UK Offer goes live 22 nd September Argos would like majority of workshops to be completed before Christmas 2014* Timescales (*January 2015 can be used to ‘mop up’ any outstanding workshops)

v supports Go ON UK Endorse the programme We want you to Display posters and leaflets at suitable community venues Signpost (and support) individuals to the booking phone number Demonstrate what will be involved (with sample tablet) Encourage appropriate take up of the offer

v supports Go ON UK Direct the offer to those people who genuinely most need the programme We want you to This could include: older people people with disabilities people with lower incomes anyone who has never been on-line before or has limited or restricted on-line experience

v supports Go ON UK 2 x tablets for demonstration purposes (that become yours on completion of the programme) You will be supported with Leaflets Poster Posters and leaflets A selection of PowerPoint slides Phone and support from Digital Outreach (Gary and Liz)

v supports Go ON UK Tell us where you’ve been (events, venues with postcode etc.) How many people you’ve seen (with some demographic information for our records) Reporting Digital Outreach will provide a reporting template and we ask you to complete this regularly. We would also welcome any anecdotal feedback, key learning, quotes etc.
