Greek Culture Spreads
Alexandria: *B/c the center for learning *Had a library w/500,000 scrolls *Researchers flocked Hellenistic kingdoms had to be built or rebuilt. Architects built baths, theaters, & temples along the streets.
*Hellenistic kings & wealthy citizens paid handsomely for statues & temples. Money was also spent to support literature. Appolonius of Rhodes wrote Argonautica.
