Conditions in Ukraine

Steps to achieve our goal Education can help prevent new infections by providing people with information about HIV and how it is passed on, and in doing so equip individuals with the knowledge to protect themselves from becoming infected with the virus. Education CDC recommends that all Americans between the ages of be tested for HIV at least once as part of regular medical care. Testing HIV counseling and testing are fundamental for HIV prevention. People living with HIV are less likely to transmit the virus to others if they know they are infected and if they have received counseling about safer behavior. Prevention

Support the Solution An effective response requires strategic planning based on good quality science and surveillance, as well as consideration of local society and culture. All sectors of the population should be actively involved in the response, including employers, religious groups, non- governmental organizations and HIV-positive people. Many of the world's most successful HIV prevention efforts have been led by the affected communities themselves.
