World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) WADEM has founded as the Club on Mainz on 2 October 1976 in Mainz, Germany with the goal of focusing its members' expertise on the scientific investigation and improvement of disaster and emergency response. Following the constant development of its scope and extension worldwide, and to better reflect its nature, the organization's name was changed to the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine.

Mission The World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine is a multidisciplinary professional association whose mission is the global improvement of prehospital and emergency health care, public health, and disaster health and preparedness. WADEM will be a leading international organization recognized for working with partners to disseminate scientific evidence and best practices in prehospital and emergency health care, public health, and disaster health and preparedness and provide academic and evidence-based input into the development/review of relevant policies and educational programs.
