Requirements Objective CBR is an online bike rental service catering to tourists and bicycle enthusiasts looking for a relatively inexpensive way to tour the city, get to work, or a way to rent a specific bike for a specific reason (racing, off-road). Considering the increasing dependence on foreign oil and the effect pollutants from fossil fuels have on the atmosphere, riding bicycles more often is not only beneficial to our country’s health and economy but also to our planets well being.

Function The company will provide a network of bike rental terminals connected to a central database that will allow customers to rent bikes at one rental terminal and return it at any other terminal throughout the city. A customer can either interface with the system via the Internet, at our central warehouse, or at a terminal point throughout the city. The system will support two types of users:

Function Cont. Customers - who will be able to create an account, sign in, select which type of bike they would like to rent, provide their payment information, and then receive the bike directly at our main facility or they are provided with unique a pin code to access the bike at an automated terminal. The rentals are based on a 12-hour period from when they initially pick it up. If the customer does not return the bicycle within that period they will be charged additional 8-hour late fees. If the customer does not return after 5 days he will be charged the full price of the bicycle in addition to all other fees as a result. Administrators - who will be able to log in, access and edit any customer or reservation information at any point within the system, create reservations, cancel reservations, and update bicycle repair logs.

Design

Technical Design Details: A public bicycle rental program that will allow customers to select a bike of their choice, determine their pickup location and pay for their rental via the web. The web application will utilize a relational database that will manage the majority of the web site’s content. Through the use of the website, potential customers can view the various bicycles that are offered and the available pick-up/drop-off points. An SQL database will be implemented and Encryption will be used to secure sensitive data.

Design Usability Requirements: -Must be easily accessible to English Speaking Customers -Reservation directions must be easily read and understood. -Fonts must correspond to the correct format (Arial, Arial Black w/ standard font sizes) -Easily Navigated by someone with minimal knowledge of the internet and web pages.

Planning

 Software – Microsoft Project  Views – Gantt, Calendar, Individual. Plan Adjustment  Planner gathers status via and phone.  Adjusts calendar accordingly.  Reports to project manager and posts new calendar.
