Miracles in John The gospel of John records eight miracles in the ministry of Jesus. Each of these miracles teach us about life and hope.

1 – Water into Wine John 2:1-12 Lesson: DISAPPOINTMENT It would be embarrassing for the host It would be a disappointment for the guests Stand in checkout line – just as you reach the counter – the light is turned off and the clerk closes the register

2 – Nobleman's son healed John 4:46-54 Lesson – DOUBT This miracle was done by long distance He believed (vs. 50) – mental agreement When he learned of the healing – he believed (vs. 53)

3 – Infirm man at pool John 5:1-15 Lesson – IMPROPER INFORMATION Verse 4 is thought to be an addition to the text The truth is – he was waiting for a false hope He came every day looking for something

4 – Feeding 5,000 John 6:1-14 Lesson – HUNGRY We hear about hungry, hurting, starvation, famine These people were just about physical hunger – wanting a free meal

4 – Feeding 5,000 John 6:1-14 Lesson – HUNGRY Jesus tries to bring them over to a spiritual hunger – eternal life Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

4 – Feeding 5, Jesus answered them and said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." John 6:26-27

5 – Walk on water John 6:15-21 Lesson – DESPAIR In a small boat in a big storm Strong wind – high waves – can sink These squalls come up often – don't last long, but can be very strong

6 – Blind man healed John 9:1-12 Lesson – DISABLED Blind man needed help to get around There are more ways to be disabled than physical Many are spiritually handicapped

7 – Lazarus raised from dead John 11:38-44 Lesson – DEATH The last enemy we face is death We can look death in the eye and welcome it We can live in dread, fear, anxiousness

8 – Net of fish John 21:3-11 Lesson – ALWAYS HOPE These were professional fishermen They fished all night – NOTHING Cast net on other side of boat – makes no sense

Conclusion – John 20: And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
