A Place To Serve
Christ Jesus is the Head of the church, His body (Eph. 1:22-23; 5:24). The Head has designated what parts will compose His body, how they relate to one another and what they will do (Eph. 4:10-14). Apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers …
Apostles and prophets – foundation of the Lord’s church (Eph. 2:19-20; 1 Cor. 3:11). Ministries of proclaiming, feeding and grounding in the inspired word of God (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 20:27-32). Serve under Christ’s rule to His body’s health by equipping the saints (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:3).
Equip them for the work of ministry. Examples of equipping for service (Tit. 2:11-15; Heb. 10:24; 2 Tim. 2:2). Equip them for the edifying of Christ’s body. All things done unto edification (1 Cor. 14:26). Training is with the aim to build up. Examples (2 Pet. 1:5-11; Heb. 12:12-15; 1 Cor. 5:6-8; Acts 20:32; Matt. 7:24-25).
Each part of the body of Christ is essential (1 Cor. 12:15-18). Every member in Christ’s church must work (Eph. 4:16). Every individual member of the church of Christ is accountable for what kind of service he renders in God’s house (2 Cor. 5:10; 1 Cor. 3:10, 17).
