Package Contains Body Blades Nordic Track Elite 12.0 Elliptical Intelect TranSport Combo Therabands Nintendo Wii The purpose of the equipment in this package is to approach rehab in an interactive and diverse way. Incorporate tools are not typical for a physical therapy facility.

Body Blades A 1.5lb flexible “blade” ranging from feet long With a small amount of force and effort the blade begins to flex back and forth providing resistance Patients will be able to keep track of their progress as they move different levels of resistance and length of the blade Cost: $ Source:

Why the Body Blade? Unlike other rehab equipment, the risk of injury as a result of this product is very limited As effort increases, the blade moves faster, therefore; the patient controls the exercise This control makes the risk of injury significantly less Accidental injury as a result of dropping the product is eliminated because it is light weight and easy to store

Nordic Track Elite 12.0 Elliptical This front drive elliptical allows the patient to make longer strides and is more of a complete workout The longer strides engage different muscles than the rear drive series elliptical Purpose: Pre-session Warm-up Cost: $1,299 Source:

Why Elite 12.0 Elliptical? A stray from typical warm up equipment Treadmills and stationary bikes are typically seen in physical therapy facilities This equipment will bring variety to the facility Involves muscles that would not normally be engaged with a treadmill or stationary bike Incorporates the upper body in the warm-up process Total body warm-up tool

Intelect TranSport Ultrasound and Electrosimulation Combo A portable modality used to assist with speeding up the rehab process, decrease pain and retrain muscles (post surgically) Cost: $2, Intelect TranSport Combo, 5cm Soundhead, & Battery Pack Source:

Why the Intelect Combo? This portable machine combines two different pieces of equipment in one Combines the pain reduction abilities of the electrostimulation and the ability to increase blood flow to the site of injury and promote the healing process of the ultrasound In addition to pain reduction and promotion of healing, the machine also has to ability to stimulate muscle contraction Assists with preventing the loss of muscle control following a surgical procedure For example: the Russian electro-stim wave is used on patients following ACL reconstructive surgery

Therabands An elastic band used to target specific areas of the body for rehabilitation Cost: Price includes: 6 yards of 4 colors of thera band material Yellow: $10.68, Red: $11.26, Green: $12.05, and Blue: $12.91 Source:

Why Therabands? This equipment can target any injury in the extremities Can be used in any way to add resistance to the exercises performed by the patient Can be tied to a table, patient can hold the equipment, physician can hold the band, etc. This tool also allows to take control of their own rehab As the color of the band changes, the amount of resistance changes also The deeper the color, the more the resistance Patient can track their rehab progress according to the progression through the bands

Nintendo Wii A game console that uses motion controllers to physically involve you in the game Purpose: Interactive rehabilitation Cost: Cost: $350 Wii Console with Wii Fit Plus (Bundle), Wii Sports Resort Game and controller Source: Gamestop, Target, Walmart, etc.

Why the Wii? This game console allows the person or people playing to physically participate in the game As a rehab tool, it strays from the normal, boring, and sometime tedious rehab process Will make rehab fun and gain the interest of the current patients Ex: the Canoeing game can be used as a upper body rehab exercise

Why the Wii cont. It will also attract a new clientele and possibly open a new avenue for rehabilitation If marketed correctly and if not too costly, the company may be able to develop our own game or a series of games Examples: Upper body rehab series and/or lower body rehab series Injury specific series

Conclusion This package of equipment will consolidate the space that we have in the facility In addition it will increase the amount of interest each patient has in their rehab process by: Incorporating interactive activities Allow the patient to take more control over their rehab Involve muscles that are not typically engaged with usual warm-up equipment This package, if used correctly, will cause an increase in patient cooperation, decrease in risk of injury and gain a new client base
