Every word of God is tested… Proverbs 30:5

 Meaning of Apologia  Jesus: A Fact Of History  Eyewitness testimony  Claims of Jesus  Titles of Jesus  Liar, Lunatic or Lord?  Prophecy

 Brilliant prophecy fulfillments show that Jesus was the one promised by God to be His Messiah.  There are 61 major prophesies all fulfilled in the birth, life and death of Jesus that are too specific to be coincidence.  Many of those concern His last days.

 Isaiah 53:7 --He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth.  Matthew 27:12 -- And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He did not answer.

 Isaiah 53:5 – “But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.  Matthew 27:26 – “Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.”

Isaiah 50:6 – “I gave My back to those who strike Me, and My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.” Matthew 26:67 – “Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him….”

Psalm 22:7-8 – “All who see me sneer at me; they separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying, ‘Commit yourself to the Lord; let Him deliver him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.’” Matthew 27:31 – “After they had mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and let Him away to crucify Him.”

Psalm 22:16 – “…for dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my feet.” Luke 23:33 – “When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him….” John 20:27

Isaiah 53:12 – Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the booty with the strong; because He poured out Himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors…. Matthew 27:38 – At that time two robbers were crucified with Him….

Despised by the Jews. Was not practiced by them when the prophecies were made. Only came into their system of jurisprudence when they were forced to do so by the Romans.

Psalm 22:18 – They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. John 19:23-24 – Then the soldiers…took His outer garments and made four parts…now the tunic was seamless…So they said to one another... “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it....”

Psalm 69:21 – “They also gave me gall for my food and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.” John 19:28-29 – “After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.” (Matt. 27:34)

Psalm 34:20 – “He keeps all his bones, not one of them is broken.” John 19:33 – “…but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.

Many like these The preponderance of evidence shows that Jesus was the one intended by all these prophecies. Include burial in a rich man’s tomb, darkness on the land, side pierced etc.

Peter Stoner in Science Speaks shows that coincidence is ruled out in these matters by the science of probability. Using 8 prophecies he showed that the probability of them all finding fulfillment in one man was 1 in That’s 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000

That number of silver dollars would bury the state of Texas two feet deep. Paint one silver dollar red and bury it somewhere. Blindfold someone and tell them they can travel anywhere in the state and pick up only one silver dollar and it be the correct one.

Remember we talked about 61 major prophecies fulfilled? How about only 48? That probability of being fulfilled in one man is A number so astronomically large as to defy illustration. Yet all of these, made by prophets over hundreds of years, were fulfilled in Jesus.
