Overview Fellowship Program (Technical and Policy) Engage those working in the security and privacy space and Internet Governance ecosystem Including working in regulation, procurement and legislation primarily in developing countries/economies. Fellowships selected from developing countries/economies Will take place during IEEE 802 and IETF Meetings Next meetings IEEE 802 Plenary in March in Macau IETF meeting in April in Buenos Aires
Purpose Connect IEEE 802, ISOC and IETF communities and further deepen the relationship Provide a cross view into and engagement in premier, collaborative communities (within and with each other) dedicated to work on global networking and Internet standards, protocols on the various layers, and spectrum Provide a a venue for interaction between policy experts from developing countries and IEEE 802, ISOC and IETF participants in an environment that supports dialogues, information sharing and solutions and where IEEE 802, ISOC and IETF can gain a better understanding of concerns and priorities in developing countries Provide insight into the open standards development processes of the organizations and how these processes contribute to a global Internet
Purpose (2) Reinforce and promote the value and benefit of an OpenStand standards development paradigm Broaden and deepen shared objectives to foster understanding of and participation in the work of both organizations by technologists and policy makers/regulators from emerging/developing countries/economies Provide opportunity for networking with individuals from around the globe (including a significant industry population) with similar interests Demonstrate the collaborative and supportive spirit of ISOC, IETF and IEEE their commitment for global participation and benefit
