How we are helping our environment.
The Womble Shield was started at Robert Owen Primary over 20 years ago. Groups of classes work together to help keep their playground, cloakroom and toilets clean and tidy.
The Wombles are pointy-nosed, furry creatures that live in burrows, where they help the environment by collecting and recycling rubbish in useful and ingenious ways. Wombles are very careful to keep themselves hidden from people whilst taking care of the environment around them. Their motto is ‘Make Good Use of Bad Rubbish’
Make sure all rubbish goes in the bin all of the time! Reuse resources when possible Hang up your coats and gyms bags in cloakroom Always flush the toilet after use and put paper towels in the bin Always leave your classroom/open area tidy Volunteer as a litter picker for the playground
Robert Owen achieved its first Green Eco Flag in September 2012 Litter plays an important part- we must be a litter free school We must look after our environment- just like The Wombles Can you help keep our Green Flag?
The tidiest areas will earn the most points and win a mini-shield for the womble league table The group of classes with the most mini- shields will win the Womble Shield at the end of the year
