How we are helping our environment.

 The Womble Shield was started at Robert Owen Primary over 20 years ago.  Groups of classes work together to help keep their playground, cloakroom and toilets clean and tidy.

 The Wombles are pointy-nosed, furry creatures that live in burrows, where they help the environment by collecting and recycling rubbish in useful and ingenious ways.  Wombles are very careful to keep themselves hidden from people whilst taking care of the environment around them.  Their motto is ‘Make Good Use of Bad Rubbish’

 Make sure all rubbish goes in the bin all of the time!  Reuse resources when possible  Hang up your coats and gyms bags in cloakroom  Always flush the toilet after use and put paper towels in the bin  Always leave your classroom/open area tidy  Volunteer as a litter picker for the playground

 Robert Owen achieved its first Green Eco Flag in September 2012  Litter plays an important part- we must be a litter free school  We must look after our environment- just like The Wombles  Can you help keep our Green Flag?

 The tidiest areas will earn the most points and win a mini-shield for the womble league table  The group of classes with the most mini- shields will win the Womble Shield at the end of the year
