Expedition 2 – Lesson 2 Introduce the Lesson “Friends or Foes?” Remember you read about virtual communities in Lesson 1. In this lesson, we’ll revisit “Friends or Foes?” and identify main ideas and important details.

Expedition 2 – Lesson 2 Practice Vocabulary “Friends or Foes?” Remember the vocabulary words from Lesson 1. This passage mentions the founders of an online networking site. What else could have founders? (a school; a club) Michelle can correspond with people online. Can people correspond another way? (letters) In this passage, Michelle learns there is risk in online networking. What is one risk she discovers? (identity theft) Michelle’s social network is expanding. What is happening to her social network to make it expand? (adding more friends) In this passage, Michelle says an online community can enrich your life. What is one way online communities enrich Michelle’s life? (make it easier to communicate with new friends)
