SIT Agreement in Tokyo Endorsement was reached at SIT 22 in Tokyo with the CEOS Sec and SIT delegates on the principles and framework for the CEOS event held at IAC. The event took place: In the Presentation theatre (situated in the main hall) from 15: :00 on 1 st Oct (Climate Day) And concluded with a drinks reception held on the BNSC stand opposite the presentation theatre (wine, soft drinks and nibbles) where 100 attendees were catered for Agenda – this was adjusted to accommodate unfortunate changes in senior CEOS attendanceAgenda Handouts were prepared in two formats to advertise the event Handouts  Double sided A4 leaflet for electronic distribution  Four sided A5 leaflet for physical distribution Next

Handouts – Printed Copies A5 double sided folded handouts

The Event The event was widely advertised via and with hard copy leaflets handed out at the IAC event Approximately 30 people attended the event There were a few generic questions about CEOS and its role during the panel session which helped to widen the audience understanding of CEOS The following reception attracted in excess of the 30 audience but provided an additional opportunity for the speakers and other CEOS representatives to interact on an informal basis with their audience.

Thanks On behalf of the “light-Touch” Task force we thank the presenters: The CEOS Chair – Pontsho Maruping Brent Smith (NOAA) Stan Wilson (NOAA) David Williams (BNSC) For participating to the success of the meeting

Conclusions (1) There remains a task to ensure that the commercial sector is fully informed and understands the role of CEOS in the community. It is hoped that with a better understanding a closer bond can be forged between CEOS and the commercial sector leading to a fruitful relationship for both Outreach publications provide an important knowledge exchange mechanism.

Conclusions (2) CEOS encourages and offers the opportunity for the commercial sector to be involved through its working Groups The CEOS working groups provide the platform for external participation and will help to communicate with the Earth Observation community the direction and priorities of CEOS thus helping to keep the community better informed.
