2 Highlights of the Last Two Weeks Midterm paper done! More tests to be performed on the board –Awaiting calibrated optical test equipment. Weekly meetings conducted as usual (2x/wk) GANTT chart updated

3 The Midterm Paper What’s in the paper? Conclusions: the board is functional time and financial constraints satisfied group management proved effective Baseline: Rx Baseline: Tx Loop-back

4 More on the Loop-Back Test Loop-back test with a 5-dB attenuator: max I bias & I mod ) i. between the VCSEL and PD – no perceivable eye-diagram ii. between the VCSEL and the Rx of GDS1250 – clear eye-diagram Why? – not enough P from the VCSEL, max I bias & I mod –PD not sensitive enough to discern attenuated signal

5 Preparation for Run-2 More tests pending –Awaiting calibrated optical test equipment. What’s next: –Financial budget: out of the $350.00, $ left for Run-2 – Time: the design of Run-2 running late; HOWEVER, – things won’t go bad since the schedule is revised

7 Plans for the Coming Week Perform the remaining tests as the calibrated optical test equipment becomes available. Start designing Run-2 Finalize the budget/vendor details for Run-2 … And, the weekly meetings
