Problem Statement Is our documentation providing evidence that time-out procedures are being used effectively to promote positive behavioral progress?

Problem Summary Care: What was the concern? - Consistency Related to our time-out procedures: Consistency across classrooms/programs; Regulations being followed; Safety; Utilized as an effective tool. Relate: Who were/are the stakeholders? – Staff & Students Teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists, parents, districts, administration, students Step 1 focus ED/BD program Examine: Provide a concise problem statement and baseline status. – Show me the data Is T-O data being utilized to inform instructions/strategies towards student success? Is T-O data being consistently/effectively logged? Acquire: What resources did you need? What help did you get? Collected the previous school year TO logs. Lead ED/BD staff: Teachers, Social Worker, BCBA

Try: What was your intervention strategy? 1. Began with BCBA looking through TO logs; I looked through – what was the story it told? 2. Met as a group w/lead ED/BD staff (teachers, social worker, BCBA) to review Broke info down even further to start back at definitions, criteria, staff response All ED/BD staff met as group to review definitions, etc. Instructions on how to fill out logs Weekly data input & review Incident Reports 3. Incorporated a structure into teacher meetings to ensure there was opportunities for program dialogue. Definitions/Response shared with other program teachers & consultants to branch off

Evaluation/Results: What happened? (Show us your data.) Logs filled out incomplete; some not reviewed Cross reference of information inconsistent Daily point sheet included reference to TO TO logs gave adequate information IR done when needed IR logged on daily point sheet Classroom summary accurate to logs & daily point sheet TO data logged for individual students Procedures/response linked to CPI training

Extend and Renew: What will you do to keep things going? Able to share some resources with staff: NY & Virginia Continue to fine-tune within ED/BD program Expanded to ASD Program Additional subgroups looking research (NAC) & paraprofessional training protocols Long-term goal: complete & updated procedural/training manual
