Black Iris Georgia O’Keeffe

Description I can learn that the artwork is called Black Iris and that the artist who drew it use dark colors. I can recognize that the both pieces of art have dark colors but there are some parts that use light colors like white and a light pink. I see some dark colors like black, purple, and maroon, and the Black Iris is an oil on canvas

Analysis The focal point is the black part od the Iris. Why ?Because it’s the center of the flower. The balance is symmetrical and the mood of the Iris sad. First it starts out large and then it decreases it looks normal. The elements are repeated to create a pattern. Yes, both hemispheres are identical if inverted at the right angle. There are organic patterns.

Interpretation It’s a flower that is opening and blooming. The artist wanted to give a sad feeling. The Iris reminds me of my moms garden because she has them in her garden.

Judgment It’s a success because it gives a sad feeling. The work is unique because the artiest use dark colors and the flower represents what the artiest felt.
