CineGrid HPA Tech Retreat 2006 Laurin Herr President, Pacific Interface Inc.

Introducing CineGrid Research initiative to develop a global cyber-infrastructure suitable for the professional production, distribution, archiving and display of digital media, concentrating on HDTV, 2K and 4K motion pictures. Effort to stimulate education and training of next generation digital media professionals, and cultivate global inter-disciplinary communities to help advance the state of the art CineGrid will connect people using high performance digital media via secure photonic networks using tools originally developed for scientific visualization and Grid computing Initially, 1 GigE circuit linking CineGrid members in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and Tokyo for non-commercial tests and demonstrations.
