Internship EDGE Presentation Company: Tofani Co Position: Junior Intern: Front End Web Developer Faye Omar

Role and Responsibilities  Role: Junior Intern, Front-End Web Developer  Responsibilities:  Develop new user-interface features  Build web application based on Bootstrap template  Ensure technical feasibility of UI/UX designs  Create User Stories to be developed into features

Technical Skills Technical skills used to develop modern responsive websites and web applications:  HTML  CSS3  JavaScript  Bootstrap  Cross Browser/Device Testing

Soft Skills  How to work in a development team using version control  How to conduct meetings with Clients  How to report progress and obstacles to manager  How to work with back-end developer

Most Beneficial Experience  How to create and develop a modern responsive website using Bootstrap template. This has been the most beneficial learning aspect for me because by using Bootstrap templates you can ensure of the design aspects and that the website is responsive. This skill has allowed me to build simple websites very effortlessly and efficiently!  Ex. Cse.broward.edu/wit

Difficult Aspect  Learning to work in a new development environment. The most difficult aspect of the internship was the amount of self-learning involved which is normal in the technology field however there was some pressure to meet deadlines which made the learning aspect stressful given that it was an Internship with a zero experience entry.

Future Career Preparation: Working Part of a Development Team  Development Environment: Prior to this internship, I did not know about development environments and now I realize that learning about the different tools available to developers is just as important as the languages used.  Version Control: Another aspect that helped me is learning about version control tools that need to be utilized when working in a team so that the work collaborated between multiple developers are in sync.

Field of Study Insight  Client vs product based services I learned how organizations can differ based on whether they are creating Client’s products or their own product for Clients.  Hands-on Experience I realized utilizing your skillset for an actual product is more gratifying than just learning a skill.  Organization Culture Beyond the daily job responsibilities, an organization’s standing and culture are just as important factors when seeking a career.

Internships? GO FOR IT!  Hands-on Experience: Applying what you learned in class towards a real-life project is invaluable.  An internship does not mean necessarily that you have to get a job at that company after the internship is over. It is meant as a research tool for future career opportunities.  Real-life tools: Especially in the fast changing technology field, it is important to experience which technological tools and organizational tools companies.  Make time: Even if it seems like your schedule is too busy, make time for an internship because what you learn in class is a very small part in your college experience.  Move on: Know the value of continuing in your internship and when it is time to look for other opportunities.

Thank You!
