Jolly Ranchas This project was done by Mallory and Ashley =D

Why/Predictions We wanted to study how much each specific flavor occurred in a typical bag of jolly ranchers. We picked this topic because jolly ranchers are a delicious candy and we were curious to see the results. We thought that blue raspberry would be the flavor that occurred the most often because that was Mallory’s favorite flavor and Ashley’s 2 nd.

Our Data Points! We collected the data by buying a regular bag of jolly ranchers, seperating the flavors, and then counting how many of each flavor there was. There was 120 data points total because that is how many jolly’s our bag consisted of. The data is Univariate because there was only one variable.

Distribution Evidence All our graphs proved that it was a normal distribution. So did our measures of center, except we did not have a mode because there was no specific amount of one flavor that occurred more than once in our bag.

Summary There were not many factors that affected our data because we just used a random bag of jolly ranchers. We did not have the theoretical for our data, but our results did not match our preconceived idea about blue raspberry being the most common flavor. We were kind of shocked that we had such a high range, because we thought all the jolly ranchers would be a bit more evenly distributed. However, we were still happy with our bag because grape ranchers are gross and they occurred the least!
