An example of good social practices among three partners The General Management of Club Med EFFAT and UITA An agreement signed in 2004 for the European Union and Turkey – agreement extended in 2009 to: Switzerland, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Mauritius

A main objective support for migrant seasonal workers who come to work in Alpine resorts A founding principle adherence to ILO agreements facilitate the transnational movement of the service personnel (GEs) Attendant measures An example of good social practices

Respect of fundamental rights at work The agreement is inspired by ILO agreements respect of trade union freedoms communicating to trade union organisations the information provided by national legislation not tolerating any form of forced or compulsory labour respect of the effective abolition of child labour the principle of equal opportunities in employment: no discrimination based on race, gender, political views or religious beliefs It is based on undertakings          

The measures implemented  priority given to the local workforce  standard employment conditions  a notice period of 15 days  information provided to the employee representatives  following up employees in the Club Med villages in France Negotiated social guarantees

Interventions during winters of The EFFAT representative met a total of more than a hundred Turkish GEs: 1/3 of cooks 1/3 of waiters 1/3 other jobs Period of service in the Club ranges from 3 to 22 years ¾ of them coming to France for the first time

A joint proposal Difficulties receiving social security and family benefits Problems integrating in the village, particularly due to language difficulties with work colleagues Not much leisure activity for the personnel in the Alpine villages

 Increased loyalty of the personnel for a first-class service  A reduction in the precarious nature of the job due to re-hiring from one season to the next  Genuine trade union support every winter for mobile workers  Trade union cooperation between France (host country) and Turkey (country of origin) An exemplary initiative: results
