CHAPTER 2- NJ DRIVER’S TESTING DRIVER EDUCATION MR. VAZQUEZ

6 Points of Verification  Must have 6 Points of Verification to Test  Primary Document  Secondary Document  No more than 2 1 pt. Documents

Vision & Knowledge Test  Must have 20/50 vision in at least one eye  50 questions must score at least 80%  Tests offered in Driver’s Education Classes or at MVC  ^ Closest Center in Sussex County is Newton  Pass both tests Permit is awarded

Road Test  Eligible to take after 6 Months of supervised driving under 21 or 3 months supervised driving over 21  Must pass to be awarded Probationary License  Must schedule ahead of time either at MVC or on-line  Closest center is Randolph

Road Test  Cannot practice on road test course before hand  Must bring:  Permit in original condition  6 points  Valid inspection, registration, & insurance  2 GDL Decals  No obstructions or large center consoles  No self-parking cars, backup cameras, or parking assistance sensors

Road Test Continued  No rental cars unless driver’s name is on rental agreement  All signals, wipers, and brake lights must be operational  Must have a supervised driver to accompany to test  Supervisor of driver must remain in front seat at all times even in line  Only a MVC Administrator is allowed in car

Road Test Elements  Automatic/Manual Transmission  Following other vehicles  Approaching corners/intersections  Parallel Parking  Proper Posture  Starting a Car  Steering  Stopping/Stopping Smoothly  Turning/K-Turn  Horn Usage  Right of Way/Yielding

Road Test Elements Continued  Administrator determines pass/fail  Will award authorization for licensing  If fail must wait 2 weeks  MVC monitors all driving for 2 years

Reasons for Rejection  Vehicle is judged and may prevent a test from being administered  Inspection Sticker  Poor Brakes  Idiot (Dashboard) Light  Brake/Signal Lights Out  Unsafe Tires  Dirty Interior  Failed Inspection with no report  Missing Seatbelts  Fast Engine Idle  Missing Mirrors  Tinted Windows  No Handbrake  Any broken or cracked windows
