Warm-Up Oct.27 Solve the following: 1. 2. Find 20% of 320.

Heart Rate Unit 3

What range of answers would be reasonable and why? How many times do you believe an average person’s heart beats in 1 minute? What range of answers would be reasonable and why? Normal heartrate per minute is 68-72 beats per minute. A resting heartrate is approx 50 beats per minute and could be less. This is normal.... 80 Beats per minute is normal for some people and really nothing to worry about. The medical profession states that up to 100 beats per minute now is fine.

Approximately how many times would your heart beat while running a 5K race? How do you measure your heart rate? How could you get a quick estimate of your heart rate? How would you get a more accurate reading of your heart rate?

In Groups-Solve the problem set that you are given. Think of the following while solving. How is heart rate normally measured? What does an average heart rate mean? What are some causes that increase or decrease heart rates?

Task #1: Heart Rate Find your pulse and count how many times it beats in 15 seconds. Run (in place) for 2 minutes. Now take your pulse for 15 seconds. Record your result.

5K = 3.1 m At this rate, how long would it take for your heart to beat 700,000 times? Express your answer in days. Now express your answer in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. (example: 2 days, 4 hours, 21 minutes, 15 seconds) 4. You are training for a 5K race. This morning you ran 8 miles in 1 hour. If you run the race at this speed, how many minutes will it take you to run a 5K race?

Using your heart rate found in Task #1, how many times would your heart beat during the 5K race from the last question?
