Renewable and Non – Renewable Resources WanFeng Huang

What is a Renewable Resource? In my opinion a renewable resource is something that we can reuse and it will constantly be replaced in nature. It could be something we grow to eat or wear, or like trees we constantly cut down to use.

What is a Non – Renewable Resource? In my opinion a non–renewable resource is something that we use that we can not reproduce, but instead find in the Earth. These are usually used more, and at a faster pace, so the Earth can not keep up and keep producing it in time.

Hydroelectric Power Hydroelectric power is electricity that is generated using falling water to turn turbines. Using Hydroelectric power to generate electricity does not add to pollution because it does not burn anything in the process. But it does cause flooding to areas near the dam used to generate the electricity, because it raises water levels. It also can several ecosystems and habitats. It is a type of renewable resouce.

When generating hydroelectricity power we use dams to hold the water on one side and let it fall down only when it runs through the generator. Hydroelectricity Power

Wind Power Wind power is another type of renewable electricity. To generate this type of electricity they have turbines turning using the power of wind. Using wind power does not contribute to pollution. It does have a drawback, because it only a few places in the world has enough wind to keep these wind turbines constantly moving.

When generating power with wind turbines it needs a constant supply of wind. Only a few places in the world suit the conditions to have a lot of electricity generated with wind turbines. Wind Power

Solar Power Solar Power is a renewable resource which uses solar panels to generate electricity. They put these solar panels in sunny places to absorb sunlight. The drawback of these solar panels is that they require a lot of sunlight, and if it suddenly starts getting darker and the sun is hidden by a cloud, then the solar panels no longer can generate electricity.

Solar Panels are used to generate energy using the power of the sun. It creates no pollution and is a renewable resource that will be here for a long time until it goes out. Solar Panels

Geothermal Energy Geothermal Energy is another type of renewable energy. This type of energy takes heat from the Earth and changes it into a type of energy we can use. Geothermal plants can last up to 100 years, or even longer. The drawbacks of these plants are that they can not be built in most places, since the area needs to have a thin crust in order to drill through the Earth. It also costs a lot of money to drill to the Earth.

Geothermal Plants use the heats energy to generate electricity. Though there is no add to pollution, it could disturb the ecosystems of wildlife. It also costs a lot of money to drill these plants. Geothermal Power Plants

Biomass Energy Biomass energy uses living things like wood or waste to generate electricity. Though this is renewable it can destroy entire forests just to get the wood. Several ecosystems are vaporized because we cut down the trees to burn and generate energy.

They burn wood as an example to generate heat. They are renewable but it also takes a long time to grow the trees back that they cut down. Biomass Energy
