Protecting your Car Prevent Car Theft Presented by Green Lake College Police

Parking Safety Procedures  At night, park in a well-lit area  Use a remote door opener  Siren and flashing lights startle potential thieves  When parking against a curb:  Turn the wheels sharply to the right or left  Point the car inward toward the curb

Install a Security Device  Put a reinforced collar over the steering column casing  Must be removed to start the vehicle  Alarm should sound when vehicle is tilted  Put stickers on the window  System will reduce insurance premiums

Other Techniques  Install a toggle switch  Disables the starter circuit  Etch the vehicle identification number (VIN) on parts thieves sell  Windows, doors, fenders  Fancy wheels, bumpers 
