A Semester in Fudong By Kaohsiung Municipal Fudong Elementary School

We’ll have to take turns to go back to clean up our campus in summer vacation. It’s fun to see the whole school with no students but us in! So clean! So beautiful! August

Fulbright scholarship winning English teachers will go visit our school every August. One of them will become a teacher in Fudong for one year.

September New Semester begins. New students come from different kindergartens will become students in our school. We’ll draw their hands for them as a lifetime memory!

September We learn English every Thursdays mornings.

September Fire drills will be held in September. We can sit on the fire engine & go up high just for experiencing it. Cool!

September Teacher’s Day celebration on September 28th. Teacher’s Day is also Confucius’ Birthday. Thank you, teachers!

October 5 th Graders have a Physical Health workshop in October. We know the differences between boys & girls ever since.

October Inter-class Happy Baseball games

October We’ll have the English Readers’ Theater competition held in October. We are the home team so it’s very nervous!

November Scout camping in November. All the scouts from different elementary schools in Kaohsiung get together for 2 days camping. We all had a lot of fun!

November Inter-class Recorder contests

November Our Japanese friends will visit us back in November too.

December We have different field trip courses all over the year for different grades. Cool!

December We have our Fudong Sports Day in December. We play many sports & have a relay race with other classes too. No classes at school but playing all day long, yeah!

December We have a party for celebrating Christmas, though it’s not a holiday in Taiwan. We sing Xmas songs.

January Go to Kaohsiung Japanese School to play with our partners in January.

January After final exam, it’s the end of the semester. We’ll have a party in class. Then winter vacation begins!

February After the winter vacation & the Lunar New Year, the new (spring) semester begins!

March “Fudong Little Mayor” election in March. We vote as adults.

March Inter-school Hand ball games will be held in March. Ball team players go to other schools to play.

April We have inter-class jump rope & basketball games in April. Very tired but exciting!

April –In April, we have Fudong Art & Literature Festival. Every student include kindergarten babies go on the stage, singing, dancing, etc. Everyone tries to do their best.

April Fudong Art & Literature Festival — students & teachers’ art & crafts exhibition. They are all very beautiful!

May We’ll invite our parents & grandparents to our school, to show our thanks for them on Fudong Mothers’ Day (2 nd Thursday in May).

May Inter-class Dodge ball games will be held in May. That’s our favorite.

May Chinese Speech, Calligraphy, Composition, Reading aloud, Chinese character & phonetic symbol writing contests will be held in May. Winners are stars & will go to city contest.

June We’ll have a farewell party for our American English teacher in June. One year passes & he/she will go back home. Everybody shake hands with him/her.

Graduation ceremony is in June. Then it’s the final exam for those who is still at school. Good luck. bye everybody~~ June See classrooms one more time

July Fudong will hold some different summer camps for all students in Kaohsiung city every year.

We need you to co- teach 10 periods of G5 English classes teach Weekly English during Thursday morning students’ gathering take part in –festival teaching (e.g. Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, etc.) –international student exchange programs –after-school student club (at your free will) –remedial teaching (at your free will)
