Advanced English and Math Classes Cheatham County Schools and Sycamore High School have a set criteria for taking advanced classes We want our students to succeed and have put in place the following requirements:

Advanced English and Math English I Advanced  Proficient or advanced on the 7 th grade TCAP/TN Ready  Advanced on 8 th grade TCAP/TN Ready  8 th grade overall grade for the year in ELA = A or B  EXPLORE score 16 or more Core Math I/II (Adv.)  Advanced on 7 th grade state assessment  Proficient or advanced on 8 th grade state assessment  8 th grade overall grade for the year in Math = A or B  EXPLORE score of 17 or more

Tennessee Scholars Tennessee Scholars is a workforce development program designed to communicate to students the requirements for success in post-secondary and the workforce. It guarantees increased job potential, recognition, and rewards. Scholars designation is recognized on job applications in more than twenty states. The application for TN Scholars must be completed by 9-11th grade at the beginning of each year. The criteria begins with 9th grade courses.
