New Year's Day in United States

New Year's Eve In the United States, New Year's Eve is celebrated with formal parties, family- oriented activities, and other large public events. One of the most prominent celebrations in the country is the “Ball Drop" held in New York City's Times Square. The Ball Drop has been held since 1907, and in recent years has averaged around a million spectators annually.

What do people do? The start of New Year's Day, at midnight, is heralded by fireworks, parties and special events, which are often televised. For many people it’s a day of recovery from the New Year's Eve celebrations the previous night.. Many people make New Year's resolutions. Those are usually promise to themselves that they will improve something in their own lives. Like Thai people do in New year’s day we promise or beg foe the good thing.

Governme nt offices, organizations, schools and many businesses are closed in the USA on New Year's Day. Public transit systems do not run on their regular schedules. In general, public life is completely closed down.

Symbol A common symbol of New Year's Day is Baby New Year. This is often a white male baby dressed in a diaper, a hat and a sash.
