CALEB AND EMILY’S SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT

Purpose THE REASON I’M DOING THIS PROJECT IS TO SEE HOW HYDRO POWER WORKS.

HYPOTHESIS + WHY  WE THINK THAT THE WATER WILL LIFT THE STRING WITH WIEGHTS BECAUSE THE WATER WILL MAKE THE BLADES SPIN CAUSING THE SKEWER TO TURN

MATERIELS 2 LITTER SODA BOTTEL RULER MARKER CRAFT KNIFE SISORS 2 CORKS 1 BARBEQUE SQEWER SEWING THREAD WASHERS SINK DUCK TAPE LARGE FUNEL 2 PAPER CLIPS

OUR PROCEDURE 1 WE GOT THE MATERIALS 2 THEN WE GOT A MARKER AND RULER AND MARKED A FEW DOTS 6 CENIMETERS UP FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE 3 THEN WE CONNECTED ARE DOTS AND HAD AN ADULT HELP US CUT OFF THE BOTTOM OF ARE BOTTLE USING THE CRAFT KNIFE 4 THEN WE MESURED AN EIGHT CENIMETER SECTION FROM THE CUT PART OF THE OF THE BOTTLE 5 THEN USING THE CRAFT KNIFE WE CUT OUT THIS SECTION SO THAT WE HAVE A CYLIDRICAL SECTION OF PLASTIC 6THEN WE CUT FOUR TWO CENIMETER WIDE PIECES OF PLASTIC 7 NEXT WE DREW 8 EVENLY SPACED LINES LENGTHWISE ON THE CORK AND MAKE SLITS ALONG THE LINES WITH OUR CRAFT KNIFE

8 AFTERWARDS WE MADE SURE THAT THE PLASTIC PIECES ALL CURVE THE SAME WAY 9 THEN SLIDE EACH 4 BY 2 CENIMETER PLASTIC PIECE INTO ITS OWN SLIT 10 THEN WE UNFOLD PAPER CLIPS TWO AND FLEX ONE END OF EACH TO CREATE A SMALL LOOP 11THEN WE AFFIX YOUR SUPPORTS ON OPISITE SIDES OF OUR FUNNEL USING DUCK TAPE 12 AFTER THAT WE POKE THE SKEWER THROUGH THE CORK WITH THE BLADES 13 THEN WE PUT IT THROUGH THE PAPER CLIPS THAT WE TAPED TO THE SIDES 14 PUT THE OTHER CORK ON THE END THE SKEWER 15 THEN PUT THE WASHERS ON THE STRING AND WE TIED THE WASHERS ON THE STRING TO THE CORK 16. THEN WE WERE DONE AND WE TESTED UNDER THE SINK AND IT DID AMAZING! WE TRIED THIS THREE TIMES

RESULTS WE PUT IT UNDER THE WATER AND IT MADE THE PROPELLERS SPIN WHICH PULLED THE STRING UP. THIS SHOWS HOW WATER CAN POWER SOMETHING TO MOVE CALLED HYDROPOWER.

CONCLUSION  WE WERE RIGHT BECAUSE WE SAID THAT THE WATER WOULD MAKE THE BLADES TURN CAUSING THE SKEWER TO TURN THAT THE CORK IS ON AND THE STRING IS TIED TO THE CORK. SO, WHEN THE SKEWER TURNS IT PULLS UP THE WEIGHTED STRING AND AROUND THE CORK

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS  WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK MRS.LARSEN FOR GETTING THE MATERIALS AND HELPING US BUILD OUR PROJECT
